During the 1970s native rights movement, George Helm, a Hawaiian activist and musician must gain the support of kupuna (community elders) in the fight to protect a precious neighboring island from military bombing.

About the Filmmaker

ʻĀina Paikai is a native Hawaiian filmmaker that aims to amplify Pacific and indigenous voices in media. A Sundance Native Lab Fellow, Paikai wrote and acted in the award-winning short-film, Down on the Sidewalk in Waikīkī (2019) and has now taken the lead on Hawaiian Soul (2020) with writing, producing, and directing.
